I took a few dozen screenshots and I'll probably gonna go buy the soundtrack soon. It's just a really fresh take on turn based combat. The characters all have very unique skillsets, and swapping them out is easy and essential. There's this evolution of Final Fantasy's Active Time Battle, but Child of Light's system is simpler and deeper and actually fun (sorry to those who like ATB), especially with the extra addition of the firefly, which you can use to heal yourself or slow enemies. It's a game with incredible heart.īut in top of that, it's fun. It sounds a bit weird, but I was tearing up at points while exploring just because all of that worked so well together. The music, the watercolor visuals, the fairytale story, the wild and dreamlike world, the unique races, and everything spoken in rhyme would have been more than enough. I'm playing through my Steam (and Origin and GoG) backlog and just finished Child of Light-one of my new favorite games.
